Hogar Gosen is an orphanage in San Francisco de Marcois where over 20 children live and attend school. The orphanage was founded in 1994 by Josefina (Fifa) and Jamie Vazque on land donated by the Brugal family to the Iglesia de Dios Pentalcostal, MI.
Members of the Pentacostal church from Puerto Rico and a youth group from the National Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC provided a significant amount of the labor and costs of the construction. The Foundation For Peace is now providing almost all the capital improvement expenses as well as about 50% of the annual operating costs.
Since Jamie and Fifa's retirement in 2004, Divina and Vicente Perez operate and live at Hogar Gosen and are "mama and papa" to the children as well as to their own two daughters. Any one interesting in visiting or contributing to the orphanage should contact the Foundation For Peace or Joy and Jeffrey Spragens at jgsdc@aol.com
