I first learned about the Foundation for Peace from Drs. Alberto and Rosalina Martinez. My time with this organization has been a wonderful experience of service to God.
I first worked part-time with the Foundation for Peace 8 years ago. During this time I was responsible for establishing the first medical clinic in San Miguel, and facilitating transportation for missionary teams during the summer. I then received training and worked full-time on the installation of water purification system with another organization for the next four years and helping out the Foundation for Peace during the summers. The training with water purification systems prepared me to come back and work full-time for the Foundation for Peace and gave me the tools I needed to deliver clean water to the communities that Foundation for Peace works with.
I feel strongly that God wants me to work with the Foundation for Peace. The gifts and experiences that I have received prior to and during my time with them is enabling me to serve God and to follow him where He is calling me.
I am now the Director of Operations in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. I receive, organize, and distribute donations. I also oversee the water purification systems and all of the year-round medical clinics. My primary goal in working for the Foundation for Peace is to organize, collaborate, and deploy our operations effectively and efficiently, so that we can continually do a better job of helping people in need.
I have been married to my husband Nelson for 8 years and we have two beautiful children. My daughter, Jades, is 6 years old and my son, Samuel, is 18 months. My mother Elsa also lives with us. The love and support from my family helps me to continue with this good work.
I studied film and cinematography at university for two years, but God changed my path. Now I work in administration and with water purification systems. For the next four years I will be attending classes once a week to receive a degree in business administration.
This summer (2009) was amazing. I met new people, and worked in Batey Algodon, Haina, and Los Arqueanos. I also had a chance to work in several barrios with a team from Seattle Pacific University(Seattle, WA). These experiences were very beneficial not only to the communities but to me as well. They helped me to clarify and better understand my/our mission.
I am very happy to work with the wonderful team here at Foundation for Peace. It is beautiful to see God working through these people and in this place.
Now I am working on several projects with Luke Davies. We are primarily working on organizing and creating an efficient method for accepting and distributing donations. We are also updating our water purification systems to meet the new government regulations prior to their inspection.
Repeat after me "Hasta pronto.." ("See you soon..")
