Creative Ways to Fundraise
Whether you’re raising funds to go on a mission trip, raising money to become a long-term volunteer or looking to help us achieve our goals, there is literally no end to fundraising possibilities. Here are a few creative ideas to get you started:
Write a letter.
The easiest and most effective way to raise money is to write a heart-felt appeal. Your letter should cover the facts (who, what, when, where, why, how) but it should also tell a story. Explain the work that’s being done and its importance—and why you’re involved. Connect with your reader on an emotional level. People love to help someone they know with an outreach like Foundation for Peace’s.
- Write a heartfelt, personal appeal.
- Send letters to friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, doctors…and anyone you can think of.
- Include important action information like when needed and who to write check to.
- Be bold in asking for money.
- Let people surprise you with their generosity.
- Remember that most people have a heart to help, they just don’t know how.
- Say that FFP is a 501c3 charitable organization, FFP Tax ID: 55-0810709
- Keep your donors up to date with updates.
- Send a thank you.
Sell craft items.
Foundation for Peace has purchased handmade jewelry from Kenya and purses from the Dominican Republic to re-sell. These goods were made women living in poverty, so they can provide food for their families and send their children to school. Will you help sell these items at your store, church, workplace, school or organization? Proceeds from the sales go directly to the artisan. Any additional profits are used for Foundation for Peace community projects. Contact us if you’re interested in more information.
When it comes to raising money, technology is your friend. Use Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest to create buzz and tell your story. Use an online fundraising site like MightyCause.
Hold an eBay auction.
eBay allows you to donate all or some of the proceeds from your sales to a non-profit organization, like Foundation for Peace. Read eBay’s “Giving Works” for more information on how to get started.
Share a skill.
What are you good at and what do you like to do … home improvements, computers, baking, photography, decorating, gardening, accounting, housecleaning, babysitting? Offer these services to help others—and raise money in the process.
If you work, check if your company offers matching funds to non-profits. This is an excellent way to raise a lot of money since Foundation for Peace is an approved matching partner for many corporations.
Host a home party or home demonstration.
Combine your gift of hospitality with your passion to serve. Invite family, friends, neighbors and co-workers. Explain the work Foundation for Peace is doing, its importance and how your guests can help. Create a theme. Arrange a demonstration of products like housewares, jewelry, purses, food products or makeup with proceeds going to FFP.
Get in the game.
Are you fit and active? Organize a fundraising sporting event like a charity run, dog walk, spin class, hike, tennis tournament or golf outing. Fitness events are a win-win for all involved!
