Our Work in Kenya
“Foundation for Peace has been a big blessing to the children of Kenya. Their hand in hand — mkono kwa mkono — mission trip work has seen the construction of a three-story orphanage. classrooms and boarding facilities.”
~Stephen and Rosemary Mbogo, founders of ByGrace Academy
Since beginning work in Kenya, our short-term mission teams have built or are completing:
1 School/orphanage building
1 Basketball court
1 Community center/church complex
|In 2007 Foundation for Peace took its first mission trip to Nairobi, Kenya. We partnered with Pastors Stephen and Rosemary Mbogo of the ByGrace Academy, Pastor Oliver Agufa of African Enterprise, and the Living Word Church in the Mathare North slum.
From 2007 to 2011 we constructed a three-story building that provided classrooms, a library, office space, and dormitories for the children and staff of the ByGrace Academy. This building allowed 100% more children come to ByGrace for an education—from 50 to 100.
In addition to construction FFP mission teams have done the following ministry activities in and around the slums of Mathare North:
In 2012, we started construction of a large community center/church complex – an ambitious project for sure. The community center, on the first floor, will house small businesses, rooms for community activities, a medical clinic and rehabilitation center. The second floor will be the new home of Living Word Church.
